Beaton, Cecil. Cecil Beaton’s Scrapbook. First Edition. 1937. Book and dust jacket are both in very good condition.
This, Beaton’s second book, is a collection of his photographs and drawings linked together by chatty and informal commentary. He had unrivaled access to nearly everyone in London, New York, and Hollywood and puts those connections to very good use here. Though antiquarian, this book has a timeless quality. It speaks to the present moment. The New York Times fumed over its Depression-insensitive price tag of $7.50 [in 1937 dollars]. The Times has since recanted, acknowledging it as one of the most sought-after out-of-print books.
