Draper, Dorothy. Entertaining Is Fun! How to Be a Popular Hostess. First Edition, First Printing. 1941. Book is in very good condition; dust jacket is in good condition—there is wrinkling to the bottom section of the front cover and small loss to the upper left corner (see image), but this jacket is overall bright and appealing.
In her first book, Decorating Is Fun!, Dorothy Draper instructed upscale American housewives on how to decorate their homes. In this follow-up, she teaches them how to have fun. She uses a mélange of text, photos, and line drawings to give advice on entertaining. The book is full of catchy Draper aphorisms, such as “Good liquor is not cheap. Cheap liquor is not good.” Her premise is that good entertaining should not be a display of ostentatious wealth. Rather it should mix intelligent planning, daring, and originality to produce a good time for both guests and the hostess.
